Inspiration from Films
We have been enjoying watching films in the past few weeks to have fresh ideas and understanding of the composers we are performing in the tour. Ancien and the Magic Tablet (Hirune Hime) was a film we went to watch at the New Zealand International Film Festival. The music is composed by Yoko Shimomura, one of the wonderful composers behind newly arranged 'Final Fantasy for Violin and Piano'.
The next film we watched was the new theatrical edition of Evangelion. Music is by the great Shiro Sagisu (also known for Shin Godzilla, Bleach, Casshern and Attack on Titan), Sagisu re-uses his material in other films and the music we will be playing in the tour is used both in Evangelion and Shin Godzilla as different arrangements. We have also played other works by Sagisu in our past concerts in New Zealand and have had many people coming up to us after the concert, asking who the composer was. He might not yet be famous in New Zealand but most definitely a fantastic composer and a composer to take extra notice :)
Have you seen out two new videos? We have plenty more coming :)
Below is a video of a rehearsal we did recently. an excerpt from the Final Fantasy, for violin & piano.
Some may of heard the abit of the work at one of our recent concerts :)
